Phone number spoofing is when scammers manipulate caller ID information to appear as a different number. 

Be cautious of unexpected calls from familiar or local numbers. Don't provide personal or financial information over the phone unless you initiate the call. If in doubt, hang up and independently verify the caller's identity.
